This makes a big batch so you might want to cut it in half unless you want that much granola.

Ingredients

  • 10 cups steel cut rolled oats (do not use quick or instant)
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1/2 pound shredded coconut
  • 2 cups raw sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup sesame seeds
  • 3 cups chopped nuts (any kind)
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups apple juice
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil or canola oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup blackstrap molasses
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • - dried fruit (your choice)

How To Make home made granola

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 300 degrees (F). Combine dry ingredients (except fruit) in a large bowl.
  • Step 2
    In a large saucepan combine brown sugar, vanilla, honey, molasses, and apple juice. Heat, do not boil, until sugar is dissolved.
  • Step 3
    Stir into dry ingredients until well coated
  • Step 4
    onto baking pan or cookie sheet (in batches). Bake 20-30 minutes; stirring occasionally to prevent burning
  • Step 5
    Allow to cool. Mix in the dried fruit. Place in large container.
