My son is allergic to many different varieties of nuts so buying granola bars and various snacks is hard. I came up with Hearty Granola Bars so I knew the ingredients in them were safe for him. Both my children love these and won't let me buy store bought granola bars now!

Yum, yum, yum! We love the flavor and versatility of these hearty bars. A terrific choice for nut lovers and avoiders alike. This recipe does include peanut butter, so please use caution if you have a peanut sensitivity.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 cup roasted pumpkin seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 2/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

How To Make hearty granola bars

  • Step 1
    Mix cereal, oats, cranberries, raisins and pumpkin seeds in a large bowl.
  • Step 2
    Grease a 9x13 pan with cooking spray.
  • Step 3
    Combine brown sugar and corn syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  • Step 4
    Heat just until boiling then remove from the heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla.
  • Step 5
    Pour mixture over cereal mix and stir until well combined.
  • Step 6
    Press into the pan using the back of a spoon.
  • Step 7
    Allow to cool and cut with a heart shaped cookie cutter.
