boiled peanuts
(1 RATING)
was a bit amazed upon going to texas for the kids basic training graduation that the natives had not had boiled peanuts. Never thought of it as being a regional thing lol We turned texas on to em!! I spent more time at the campground making these for the family reunion that adopted us into the family then I did floating lazily in the Guadalupe river

Ingredients
- 1 package raw peanuts, (green peanuts are best but can be very hard to find)
- 1 cup salt
- 1 bottle beer
- - optional cajun spice
How To Make boiled peanuts
-
Step 1wash in shell peanuts thoroughly . Place in dutch over , Pour salt on , pour in beer and then fill to cover nuts with water. If you use cajun spices omit 1/2 cu of salt and add 1/2 c of the spice.. It sounds like a lot of salt but trust me.. you may even want to add more.
-
Step 2bring to boil.. once its boiled for 2 - 5 minutes.. cover reduce heat and cook away for 8 hours.. if water boils down this is a great time to add another beer or more water
-
Step 3peanuts are done when the nut is soft VERY soft some can take up to 10 hours.. these can be done in a crock pot too..
