A elderly cousin use to make this with tomatoes she canned from her summer garden. It was always a favorite of mine. I use canned tomatoes from the grocery store, but it still comes out really good.

Ingredients

2 c
bread, cubed
1/2 c
butter, melted
1/3 c
brown sugar (may adjust to 1/2 cup depending on sweetness of tomatoes)
1/2 c
water
1/2 tsp
salt
10 oz
can whole tomatoes
1 Tbsp
cinnamon

How to Make Tomato Casserole

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 2Boil tomatoes, water, sugar and salt for 5 minutes.
    Butter casserole dish and layer bread cubes in bottom.
    Pour boiled mixture over bread.
    Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • 3Bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes.
