How To Make tara's collard greens and ham hocks
-
Step 11. Add water to stockpot. Rinse off ham hocks with cold water, add to pot. Chop onion add to pot. Add vegetable oil, garlic powder, and pepper to pot. Bring water to boil and than put on simmer for 1 hour (or until meat starts to fall of bone.
-
Step 22. Once meat fully cooked (I usually take out of pot and remove any meat I can off bone, because the meat is generally used for flavoring)add meat to pot.
-
Step 33. Add package of collard greens to pot (not necessary to rinse already pre rinsed). Add sugar, crushed red pepper and seasoning salt. Bring pot to a boil. Once water starts boiling, cover, lower heat to simmer and cook for at least 2 hours or until collard greens are tender. Note:(I usually serve this with corn bread on the side).
