I usually make this dish as a side dish when I fry chicken or smother pork chops. My love for southern food really show in this dish!

How to Make Tara's Collard Greens and Ham Hocks

  1. 1. Add water to stockpot. Rinse off ham hocks with cold water, add to pot. Chop onion add to pot. Add vegetable oil, garlic powder, and pepper to pot. Bring water to boil and than put on simmer for 1 hour (or until meat starts to fall of bone.
  2. 2. Once meat fully cooked (I usually take out of pot and remove any meat I can off bone, because the meat is generally used for flavoring)add meat to pot.
  3. 3. Add package of collard greens to pot (not necessary to rinse already pre rinsed). Add sugar, crushed red pepper and seasoning salt. Bring pot to a boil.
