This is my version of my mom's tomatoes. SHe grew tomatoes every year and this was my favorite way to eat them.

Ingredients For stewed tomatoes

  • 4 lg
    tomatoes
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter

How To Make stewed tomatoes

    Peel tomatoes and cut them into chunks.
  • 2
    In a saucepan, heat tomatoes, stirring constantly, until the juice comes out.About 10 minutes.

    Cook over low heat until desired consistency is reached.

    Add salt, pepper, butter and sugar.
  • 5
    You can add breadcrumbs to the top if you like. And can substitute 6 small tomatoes for the large.
