Ran across this while browsing an old recipe book. Haven't tried it, but I love grilled or sauted cabbage so will do so soon.

This sounds like what my grandmother used to make, only she used regular cabbage not red.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp
    butter (i will probably use olive oil)
  • 2 Tbsp
    minced onions
  • 6 c
    shredded red cabbage
  • 6 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    caraway seeds

How to Make SAUTED RED CABBAGE (BATES)

Step-by-Step

  1. In cast iron or heavy skillet, melt butter or pour in olive oil and saute onions until just tender

    Add the remaining ingredients, cover and simmer until just until tender

    Serve while hot
