overnight sauerkraut salad

This is a perfect holiday dish with Pork dishes and also is a pefect salad for summer picnics because it has no mayo in it. It goes greaat with hot dogs and brats too. It was given to me by a very dear friend of my husband's.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound can sauerkraut, drained well
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup green peppers, chopped
  • 1/4 cup onions, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 3 tablespoons pimentos, chopped

How To Make overnight sauerkraut salad

  • Step 1
    Drain sauerkraut 15 minutes, then cut up with kitchen scissors into 1 inch pieces.
  • Step 2
    Place in a large bowl, add remaining ingredients, stir well, cover and refridgerate overnight before serving.
