Notes from the Test Kitchen:
What a great side dish! I used canned tomatoes and it worked quite well. The liquid smoke adds a really nice touch.


16 oz
turnip greens, chopped, frozen
16 oz
collard greens, chopped, frozen
16 oz
spinach, chopped, frozen
medium onion, chopped
28 oz
tomato, peeled and chopped
1 Tbsp
liquid smoke flavoring

How to Make Mixed Greens


  • 1Mix all ingredients together in soup pot.
  • 2Add enough water to cover the greens.
  • 3Cook at medium heat until greens are done.
  • 4About 45 minutes.
  • 5Although I like to let them simmer as long as possible to give them a better flavor.
