This is a slaw that has no mayo in it.
The recipe came from Lill Bower, a sweet Canadian lady that wintered over in our snowbird park.

Ingredients

  • 3 lb
    cabbage, shredded
  • 4 small
    onions, thinly sliced
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    white vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    celery seed
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1 c
    vegetable oil

How to Make Lill's Canadian style slaw

Step-by-Step

  1. Alternate layers of cabbage and onions.
  2. Heat remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
  3. Pour over cabbage, cover set 1 hour.
  4. Stir and refrigerate.
