This is one of my Family Favorite Generationally enjoyed recipes. I. Love making this recipe we love to serve it with Fried Trout. It's really awesome when you use Fresh Okra. I hope you all Enjoy this as much as we do. Enjoy!!

Ingredients For jodie's southern fried okra

  • 1 dozen
    okra, fresh
  • 1 1/2 c
    grapeseed oil for frying
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2 tsp
    sea salt
  • 2 tsp
    pepper
  • 2 tsp
    garlic and herb seasoning
  • 2 tsp
    sage, dried
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2 qt
    boiling water

How To Make jodie's southern fried okra

    Put all dry ingredients into a separate large bowl.

    In large pot, boil 2 Quarts of Water.

    Wash Okra and remove stems if needed.
  • 4
    Prepare eggs in separate bowl from milk. Use fork or whisk. You will need 2 bowls one for each.

    Parboil your Okra for 5 minutes. Pouring off water, as having heated oil in skillet. I like to use a cast iron skillet.

    With each Okra dipping into milk then into egg and then into the flour mixture.

    Drop each Okra into your hot oil. Let cook, turning each one till Golden Brown. Salt and Pepper to taste. Serve Hot... Enjoy!!!
