Ingredients

  • 4 large
    sweet onions peeled and sliced
  • 3 clove
    garlic minced
  • 3 Tbsp
    extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 medium
    banana peppers thinly sliced (not pickled)
  • 2 large
    red bell peppers, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 3 tsp
    red wine
  • ·
    oregano to taste
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • ·
    red pepper flakes to taste
  • ·
    romano cheese to taste

How to Make Italian Style Baked Onions

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Saute onion and garlic in oil til tender. Add peppers and saute a few minutes more. Stir in all remaining ingredients except cheese.
  2. Place in a small, deep baking dish and top with cheese.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Serves 4-6 as a side dish.
