My Italian Aunt always made this when she'd come out to Nebraska to her In=laws (who were very German).. It was a request from them.. along with her Italian Spaghetti Sauces;;; She used home-canned green beans or fresh green beans in the summer..also tomatoes...but 60 yrs later, I have substitued the frozen green beans and canned tomatoes...

Ingredients

  • 5 slices bacon, diced
  • 1/2 cup green onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 lg. can diced tomatoes
  • 1 10 oz packages frozen green beans
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper (no salt added)
  • 1/2 cup grated romana cheese
  • 1/2 cup fresh grated parmisona cheese

How To Make italian green bean casserole

  • Step 1
    Brown bacon. add and saute onions and mushrooms, drain off grease..
  • Step 2
    Mix together in 2-qt. casserole-- green beans, tomatoes, oregano, salt and lemon pepper, bacon onion and mushrooms..
  • Step 3
    Bake at 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.. Sprinkle grated cheese over before serving....
