My family loves this because my granny made it when we were we lil ones. It is like a comfort food. And good for you too, Plus low cal.

  • large
    head of cabbage
  • pt
    1 pint of whole milk
  • Tbsp
    5 tablespoons of butter or low fat olive based butter
  • dash(es)
    salt and pepper
  • dash(es)
    celery salt

  • 1 pt
    one half cup of water

How to Make Grannies Creamed Cabbage


  1. Quarter the cabbage then slice vertically to make long strips, use the whole cabbage.
    Wash the cabbage well first to remove any grime. Set aside.
  2. Pour your water milk, into a stew pot. Bring to a mild boil then turn down the heat to simmer.
  3. Add butter,salt and pepper, celery seed and then the cabbage strips. Then simmer for 45 minutes taking the lid off the last 20 minutes' Tastes great with meatloaf and cresent rolls.
