good for the soul green beans
When I was growing up, there was not a Sunday or holiday that you would not find some type of green veggie on the table. They were always cooked for at least an hour. This long process of cooking is what we southerners love to call SOULFOOD. These string beans were one of my favorites. I've added some additional goodies just because... Ingredients
- 4-5 cups green beans, fresh & trimmed
- 1/4 pound jimmy dean sage sausage, cooked
- 1/4 pound smoked hog jowl, chopped
- 1/2 cup pearl onions
- 1 tablespoon garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- - sea salt to taste
How To Make good for the soul green beans

Step 1saute hog jowl and sausage in a heated pot for 3 minutes. add garlic a saute for an additional minute. add enough water to cover the meat meat. simmer for 20-30 minutes **this seasons the water**

Step 2add green beans, onions, pepper & salt to the pot. add more water just to cover the green beans. place lid on pot

Step 3simmer for and additional hour or so. your green beans are ready to be served
