Ingredients

  • 1 can garbanzo beans, rinsed & drained
  • 3 - garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, fresh
  • 1/4 cup parsley, fresh
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 - lemon squeezed
  • - salt/pepper
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 cups vegetable or canola oil for frying

How To Make falafel

  • Step 1
    Put the garbanzo beans in a food processor, pulse a few times...just to the consistency of loose bread crumbs...NOT mushy.
  • Step 2
    take out and place in a bowl.
  • Step 3
    add the rest of the ingredients( except the 2 cups of oil) and also pulse till well combined..
  • Step 4
    mix together with the garbanzo beans and refrigerate at least an hour.
  • Step 5
    form into small balls and gently press, fry on med-high for about 2 mins per side...until golden brown.
  • Step 6
    serve warm in pita bread with tomatoes, lettuce and Tzatziki sauce ( look for recipe here).
