An excellent side dish served with fish or chicken especially. If available, use fresh off-the-vine beans.

Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 pounds fresh green beans
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 2 or 3 - green onions, chopped
  • - salt & pepper to taste

How To Make chinese sauteed green beans (sallye)

  • Step 1
    Whisk soy sauce and honey together in small dish and set aside In heavy skillet turned to medium high heat add olive oil and butter. Allow butter to melt
  • Step 2
    When oil and butter is hot, add green beans Cook, stirring frequently to make sure all sides are browned (about 5-7 minutes) While still in pan over heat, pour soy sauce and honey mixture over beans (you will have to scrape the honey out of the bowl) Cook about 5 minutes until soy sauce and honey mixture is carmelized on beans (oil will turn dark brown)
  • Step 3
    Add garlic and onions and stir into mixture Add salt and pepper to taste at this time Continue cooking for a minute or so until garlic and onions are tender
  • Step 4
    Transfer to shallow serving dish and serve while still warm. Garnish with roasted slivered almonds if desired
