SO! Here is my creation on Cauliflower and Broccoli with cheese sauce.

Ingredients

    12-oz evaporated milk
  • 1 can(s)
    water, using evaporated milk can
  • 1 small
    head cauliflower, florets only
  • 1 small
    head broccoli, florets only
  • 1 qt
    water, as needed to cover florets
  • 1-1/2 tsp
    coarse salt
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper
  • CHEESE SAUCE

  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    milk mixture
  • 4 slice
    process american cheese
  • 4 slice
    process swiss cheese
  • 1/3 c
    grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp
    coarse salt
  • 6 slice
    process american cheese

How to Make CAULIFLOWER & BROCCOLI W/CHEESE SAUCE

Step-by-Step

  1. Turn oven to 375 degrees.

    Take a can of evaporated milk and a can of water, mix together and place in a quart jar with a lid, and refrigerate.
  2. Take the cauliflower and broccoli florets and place in a medium pot and cover with 1 quart of water or until water covers florets. Bring water to a boil, on high heat. Turn down to medium and simmer. Add salt and pepper. Cook until fork tender, drain.
  3. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, put butter and milk mixture on medium-high, add the cheeses, [not the 6 slices] and salt. Turn to medium and cook until all cheeses melt. Turn to low. This mixture may be a little runny.
  4. Take the cooked and drained florets and place in a medium [8x12] casserole dish. Pour cheese mixture over florets. Place in oven and cook for 15 minutes.
  5. After 15 minutes, remove florets from oven. Place slices [6] of American cheese on top of florets. Place back in oven and cook until cheese melts. Remove from oven and let set for 5 minutes.
