cabbage, cut into wedges
red onion, sliced 1/4"-thick
1/2 tsp
celery seeds
1/2 tsp
1/4 tsp
1 c
stout beer
1/4 c
melted butter
1 Tbsp
packed light brown sugar
6 slice
cooked bacon, cut into 1"-pieces

How to Make Beer-braised cabbage


  • 1Arrange oven racks in center and lower thirds of oven. Heat oven to 350.
  • 2In deep roasting pan, combine cabbage, onion, celery seeds, salt and pepper. In bowl, combine beer and brown sugar. Drizzle beer mix over cabbage.
  • 3Cover pan tightly w/ foil. Bake on lower rack for 1-1/2 hrs or until cabbage is tender. Using a slotted spoon, transfer cabbage mix to serving platter. Sprinkle w/ bacon bits.
