My husband loves asparagus and this is his favorite way to enjoy it. I like to make this dish when we have company. Everyone loves it!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb
    fresh asparagus spears
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 clove
    garlic minced
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh grated orange rind
  • 1/4 c
    fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper

How to Make Asparagus/Orange Spears

Step-by-Step

  1. Clean and prep asparagus spears; Cook asparagus, uncovered, in enough boiling water to cover them, 5-6 minutes depending on the thickness of the spears. You want them crisp tender.
  2. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat; Add the garlic and saute' 1 minute. Remove garlic and set aside.
  4. Add orange juice and the rind to the butter in the skillet. Stir.
  5. Add the asparagus spears to heat them thoroughly, about a couple of minutes.
  6. Remove asparagus to a serving dish. Spoon the heated orange juice mixture over the spears. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
