I had to come up with a special Valentine's Day meal. I just hate going out to a restaurant on Valentine's Day and having to order from a "Special Menu" for that night. Usually overpriced and not as good as eating in the same places on a normal night. So I did Lobster Tails, Steamed Blue Lake Green Beans, Herb Rice, with butter and a salad. This will work well for any special occasion or just because.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Prepare this Valentine's Day meal for your sweetheart and they will love you forever. Each component is simple and tasty. Put everything together and it's equivalent to a meal from a fancy restaurant. The herb rice is packed with flavor. Toasting the rice in butter adds so much to it. The fresh green beans are simple, but melting butter over them, along with salt and pepper, elevates them from ordinary green beans. Using a bamboo skewer in the lobster tail, the outcome is a perfect, beautiful lobster tail. The Test Kitchen

Ingredients

HERB RICE

1 c
rice
2 c
vegetable broth
2 Tbsp
butter
2 clove
garlic, minced
1 tsp
basil, dried
1 tsp
oregano, dried
salt and pepper

GREEN BEANS

1 lb
fresh blue lake green beans
butter
salt and pepper

LOBSTER TAILS

4
8 oz tails (pricey, a little much for 2 people but we love them)
salt
butter, melted

How to Make Sweetheart Supper

Step-by-Step

  • Melting butter in a saucepan.
    1RICE: Melt butter.
  • Adding rice and coating with butter.
    2Add rice and coat in the butter. Cook about 5 minutes on medium heat.
  • Adding the rest of the ingredients to the rice.
    3Add rest of ingredients.
  • Simmering the rice.
    4Bring to boil then lower to a simmer and cover.
  • Cooking rice until liquid is absorbed.
    5Cook about 30 minutes until broth is absorbed.
  • Cleaned green beans in a bowl.
    6GREEN BEANS: Clean beans and snap off stems.
  • Steaming green beans with butter.
    7Place in a steamer over salted water and steam for 5 minutes. Top with butter, salt, and pepper. Optional: I like to top mine with either balsamic or spicy vinegar.
  • Placing a bamboo skewer through the lobster tail.
    8LOBSTER TAILS: Place a bamboo skewer thru tails to keep them from curling in the steamer.
  • Steaming the lobster tails.
    9Steam over salted water for 7-9 minutes.
  • Lobster tails steamed and ready to take skewer out.
    10Remove bamboo skewer.
  • Dipping lobster into melted butter.
    11Serve with melted butter.
