This recipe came to me from, of all people, my boyfriend, who does not cook at all. His idea of making a meal is pouring a bowl of cold cereal! But someone once made green beans this way and he took note of it. Now that he's told me about it, I don't think I'll cook them any other way. They are to die for! Photo: genaw.com

Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh green beans
- 4 slices bacon
- 1 small onion, chopped
- - salt to taste
- - bacon fat
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
How To Make preston's yummy green beans

Step 1Wash green beans. Snip ends and cut beans in half. Place in a large pot of salted water, enough to cover beans. Heat to boiling; then reduce to simmer and cover.

Step 2Cook bacon until crispy; drain on paper towels. Crumble and add to green beans. Pour the bacon fat from pan into the green bean pot. Add sugar and onion. Salt and pepper to taste. Stir to mix.

Step 3Return pot to simmer, covered, and cook for 2 hours.
