This recipe was my grandmother Lillian Smith's. These are always served at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Ingredients
- 2 cups great northern beans
- 1 cup bean liquid
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 thick slices bacon
- 5 cups water
- 1/4 cup molasses
How To Make mamaw's old-fashioned baked beans

Step 1Wash and sort beans to remove stones. Place in slow cooker.

Step 2Add water, salt, onion and bacon. Cook on high overnight (8 to 10 hours).

Step 3Drain the beans reserving 1 cup of the liquid. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

Step 4Cover and cook on high for 1-2 hours.
