Ingredients

` small
cabbage
2 c
milk
1/2 stick
butter
1 tsp
pepper, or to taste
water

How to Make Mamaw's Cabbage

Step-by-Step

  • 1Core cabbage. Cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • 2Place in a large skillet. Add milk. Then add water until skillet is full to 1 cm from the top.
  • 3Cut butter into 1/4 inch slices. Add butter slices, spread out over the cabbage.
  • 4Sprinkle with pepper.
  • 5Simmer over medium-low heat for 30 minutes. As the butter melts, stir it to mix with the juice. Stir occasionally as it cooks.
  • 6Serve with a slotted spoon to strain.
