Ingredients

1/2 c
sliced onion rings
1 clove
garlic, minced
1/2 c
apple juice
1 c
peeled and grated apples
2 Tbsp
red wine vinegar
1 1/2 Tbsp
brown sugar
1
bay leaf
1/4 tsp
black pepper
4 c
shredded red cabbage
2 Tbsp
chopped fresh parsley

How to Make Cabbage Sidedish

Step-by-Step

  • 1Spray a large saucepan with non stick spray. Add onions and garlic. Cook and stir over medium heat until tender, about 5 minutes.
  • 2Dilute apple juice with 1/2 cup water to make 1 cup total. Add to onions and garlic, along with apples, vinegar, brown sugar, bay leaf, and pepper. Stir and bring mixture to a boil. Stir in cabbage. Cover and simmer over medium heat until cabbage is tender crisp, about 12 minutes.
  • 3Discard bay leaf and stir in parsley before serving.
