Ingredients

  • 5 cups fresh broccoli, cut into large florets, stems cut into large chunks
  • 1 tablespoon light butter
  • 1/2 cup fresh challots, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper, fresh ground

How To Make broccoli with shallots and lemon

  • Step 1
    Bring 1" of water to a boil in a large, deep skillet. Add broccoli, cover, and cook until crisp-tender (about 3 minutes). Drain.
  • Step 2
    Melt butter in same skillet. Add shallots; cover and cook, stirring often, until golden and tender (about 5 minutes).
  • Step 3
    Add broccoli, lemon zest, thyme, salt and pepper. Toss over low heat until broccoli is coated and hot, about 2-3 minutes. Transfer to serving bowl.
  • Step 4
    NOTE: If you don't have fresh thyme on hand, don't substitute dried ... go without, or use fresh parsley instead.
