Baked beans are one of my favorites, all year round. My mother used to always serve them with meatloaf, which is a very good combination. She made hers in the oven, but I think the slow cooker is the way to go. Recipe & photo: justhungry.com

Ingredients
- 1 pound navy beans
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
- 1 - chunk fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- 4 tablespoons molasses, or 4-5 tbs. dark brown sugar
- 3 ounces smoked ham or bacon
- 2-3 - bay leaves
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried mustard
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried cumin
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup ketchup

How To Make all day boston baked beans

Step 1Place all the ingredients into a large slow cooker. Pour in water to about 1-1/2 inch above the level of the beans. Mix well.

Step 2Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours. Add water as needed. Cook an additional 2 to 3 hours. If you can't be there to check water level, add more to start with, and cook on LOW for 8-9 hours.
