Ingredients

  • 1 Loaf - roasted onion challah bread cubed
  • 1 pound sweet sausage - not links
  • 1 1/2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts browned
  • 1/2 cup butter - divided 1/4 c and 1/4 c
  • 1 cup sweet onion, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 tablespoon truffle oil - black or white
  • 1-2 dash salt/pepper to taste
  • 2 cups turkey broth

How To Make roasted onion, sausage and mushroom dressing

  • Step 1
    In a large pan - brown and break up sausage until almost done - approximately 5 minutes Remove and set aside
  • Step 2
    Add mushrooms and brown; Remove and set aside
  • Step 3
    Add butter and sweat onions and celery for 8 minutes and add sausage, mushrooms and nuts
  • Step 4
    Place mixture in large bowl and toss in the bread cubes
  • Step 5
    Place mixture in 9 x 12 inch pan, adding 2 C broth over all
  • Step 6
    Drizzle remaining butter over top.
  • Step 7
    Place pan in 350 degree oven just till brown and crispy on top - approximately 15 - 30 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Enjoy as a side w/ Turkey! or alone - even cold when no one is watching!
