Saw this recipes on the back of a ketchup bottle and thought it sounded really different from your normal smashed potatoes. I love new ways to prepare spuds!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium
    onions, peeled and chopped in 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 c
    heinz tomato ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pkg
    ore-ida steam n' mash cut russet potatoes
  • 2 c
    shredded very sharp cheddar cheese
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste

How to Make SUPER SMASHED POTATOES

Step-by-Step

  1. Toss the onions with the ketchup, vegetable oil, chili powder, and Worcestershire sauce. In a medium skillet, cook for 10 to 12 minutes or until softened.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare potatoes according to package directions
  3. Combine the cheese and onions into potatoes using a potato masher. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
