These are great because I usually have the stuff on hand to make them.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion or chives
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 5 large baking potatoes

How To Make scalloped potatoes

  • Step 1
    To make sauce, in a medium sauce pan, melt butter. Stir in flour, 1 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Add milk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat.
  • Step 2
    Mix a little bit of sauce in with the sour cream, then stir sour cream into the milk mixture until smooth.
  • Step 3
    Spray 9x9 glass casserole dish with butter flavored cooking spray or butter the dish.
  • Step 4
    Place half of the sliced potatoes in the greased 2 quart casserole. Cover with half of the sauce. Repeat layers.
  • Step 5
    Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
  • Step 6
    Sprinkle with chopped green onion or chives over the top and bake another 15 minutes.
