orzo-gorgonzo-pasta side
This is another one of the side dishes that I made to go with my Valentine's dinner for my husband. It was the perfect accompaniment to the Chicken Cordon Bleu & he especially loved the flavor of the gorgonzola in the pasta. I added a few chopped red bell peppers to give it a bit of a crunch & to add color for Valentines Day. It was a great attractive side dish, & not hard to make, something simple to go with my lengthy menu for the special day. The best part is that my husband showed his appreciation for all my efforts with a beautiful card & some of the prettiest flowers ever.

- 1 package gorgonzola cheese
- 1 bunch green onions, chopped
- 12 ounces frozen peas
- 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
- 1 large red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 teaspoons steak seasoning

How To Make orzo-gorgonzo-pasta side
-
Step 1Cook orzo pasta Al Dente, then drain in a colander and add back into pot.
-
Step 2Then immediately add frozen peas into the orzo, and stir till mixed together. then cover with tight fitting lid. The heat from the pasta will cook the frozen peas and add a bit of crunch & pop of color.
-
Step 3Chop the green onions,& sauté for about 5 minutes in 1 tablespoon of butter, then immediately add to pot of pasta and peas, stir to mix. IF ONLY USING GREEN ONION TOPS THERE IS NO NEED TO SAUTE, UNLESS YOU PREFER TOO. Add steak seasoning, and a few chopped Red bell peppers uncooked for additional crunch, or sauté with onions if you prefer them slightly cooked. Stir to blend. Add both cans of soup & gorgonzola cheese stir to blend. Heat over low heat if needed before serving.
-
Step 4Add pasta to a serving bowl and garnish with additional green onions and chopped red bell pepper, or use both red and green peppers. Serve and enjoy. Simple Idea!
-
Step 5I added pasta to a heart shaped mold, inverted it onto platter and garnished with a few chopped green onions, & red bell peppers, and using a paring knife created the two tomato halves on the plate. You can garnish as you like. IMPRESSIVE IDEA WHICH EVER YOU LIKE!
