My mother was of German heritage but was born in Yugoslavia. She made goulash and dumpling at least once a week. Our favorite part of course was the dumplings.

Add one cup water. Stir.
Mix into flour with fork.
Drop into salted boiling water by teaspoon.
Cook 5 minutes, strain, and serve.
