Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 slice onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 ounce 8 ounce can no salt added tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 15 ounces 1 can navy beans, low sodium, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup water
How To Make stove-top baked beans

Step 1Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring until translucent, 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add the tomato sauce, brown sugar, tomato paste, vinegar, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and black pepper and whisk to combine. Add the beans and water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium low and simmer until the liquid has thickened slightly, about 30 minutes
