  1. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening. Add in milk, carrot and parsley, stirring until flour is moist. Drop dumplings into simmering liquid in 8 mounds. Cover. Simmer 15 minutes without lifting cover. Makes 8 servings.
