Fresh, homemade applesauce is such a treat. I made several batches this year with Winesap apples from a friend's farm. Yummy!!

Ingredients
- 8 cups apples peeled and sliced
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- dash vanilla extract
How To Make homemade applesauce

Step 1place apple slices in large stock pot or dutch oven and cover with water.

Step 2add remaining ingredients and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until apples are soft, approx 25-30 minutes.

Step 3blend the mixture in the blender in small batches, until smooth.

Step 4place applesauce in airtight containers in refrigerator. This also freezes well.
