This was my mom's recipe that she handed down to me. I always loved her baked beans. This can easily be doubled or more for large crowds of people. Perfect for a potluck or cookout. You can also bake this in a crock pot to take with you. Just bake for about 4-6 hours in crock pot instead of in oven. For the mustard, I like Dijon, but I have also used yellow mustard or Gulden's spicy mustard.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

40 oz
can navy or great northern beans, do not drain
1/2 c
packed brown sugar (light or dark)
1/4 c
dark molasses (not karo or corn syrup)
1/2 tsp
salt
6 slice
bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled
1 medium
onion, chopped
1/2 to 3/4 c
ketchup (to your taste)
1 Tbsp
mustard (your favorite kind)

How to Make Homemade Baked Beans

Step-by-Step

  • 1Mix all ingredients together in a large casserole.
  • 2Bake at 350 degrees, covered, for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.
  • 3Serves approximately 6-8 people.
