Fran’s Notes: This recipe was one of Grandma Jeanne Miller’s most popular dishes and one I often made for my own family. This dish is also great for holiday buffet dinners and potlucks. The options are my ideas, not Grandma’s! =^..^=

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 cups thinly sliced white potatoes, peeled
- 1 small onion, minced
- 2 tablespoons margarine or butter, cut into pieces
- 1 1/2 cups milk, scalded (not boiled)
- OPTIONS
- some ham
- some bacon, fried & crumbled
- some shredded cheese (for au gratin potatoes)
How To Make grandma jeanne’s scalloped potatoes

Step 1Preheat oven to 375°F. Spritz a 2 1/2 qt. baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 2In a small bowl, stir together the flour, salt, & pepper. Set aside.

Step 3Prepare potatoes, mince onion, & scald the milk (using a saucepan or microwave for 45-60 seconds until hot, but not boiling). Slice butter into pieces.

Step 4In the prepared baking dish, make 3 or 4 layers of potato slices, minced onion, flour mixture, and butter pieces.

Step 5Pour hot milk evenly over everything & cover with foil or a lid.

Step 6Bake COVERED for 45 minutes, then UNCOVER and bake ~15 minutes longer until potatoes are browned and fork-tender.

Step 7Serve immediately. Refrigerate leftovers after they are cooled.

Step 8NOTE: This recipe is easy to double. Bake in a 13 X 9” baking dish or large casserole dish. The temperature & time should be about the same. =^..^=
