Grits isn't just for breakfast anymore. This baked casserole, with plenty of garlic, is one of my favorite treats. So tasty!

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    quick grits
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 4 c
    boiling water
  • 1 stick
    butter, melted
  • 6 oz
    shredded sharp cheddar cheese, plus 2 oz.
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 1 large
    clove garlic, minced
  • ·
    salt and pepper, to taste

How to Make GARLIC CHEESE GRITS

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350º.
  2. Stir the grits into the boiling water in a large saucepan.
  3. Reduce heat and cook, stirring frequently, for 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in 6 oz. cheese, eggs, butter, milk, garlic, salt and pepper.
  5. When cheese has melted, pour the mixture into a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Bake for 1 hour.
  6. Add remaining 2 oz. cheese on top, return to oven for 5 minutes until cheese has melted and turning golden.
