Grits isn't just for breakfast anymore. This baked casserole, with plenty of garlic, is one of my favorite treats. So tasty! 10-18/2018

Ingredients

  • 1 cup quick grits
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 6 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese, plus 2 oz.
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • - salt and pepper, to taste

How To Make garlic cheese grits

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350º.
  • Adding grits to boiling water
    Step 2
    Stir the grits into the boiling water in a large saucepan.
  • Step 3
    Reduce heat and cook, stirring frequently, for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Stirring in the cheese and other ingredients
    Step 4
    Stir in 6 oz. cheese, eggs, butter, milk, garlic, salt and pepper.
  • Garlic Cheese Grits, ready to go into the oven
    Step 5
    When cheese has melted, pour the mixture into a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Bake for 1 hour.
  • Fresh from the oven
    Step 6
    Add remaining 2 oz. cheese on top, return to oven for 5 minutes until cheese has melted and turning golden.
