Even as a child, I remember mom making this recipe and serving with just about any meat. Good, old fashioned recipe. Delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound bacon slices
  • 3 pounds ground chuck
  • 6 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 1 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 2/3 cup beef broth or 1 beef bullion cube in 2/3 cup water)
  • 1 1/2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cans baked beans, molasses style -1 #13 oz, cans)

How To Make chuck wagon beans-connie's

  • Step 1
    Heat Oven 375 degrees
  • Step 2
    In a Dutch oven or large roasting pan, fry bacon until crisp.
  • Step 3
    Remove bacon and hold for later use.
  • Step 4
    Drain bacon drippings from pan.
  • Step 5
    In the same pan, cook ground chuck, onion, and celery.
  • Step 6
    Stir slowly broth and remain ingredients into pan.
  • Step 7
    Cover and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Crumble bacon and sprinkle over beans.
  • Step 9
    Enjoy!
