Asparagus is my favorite vegetable and this time I put one of my favorite ingredients with it, (cream cheese). It is so yummy.

Ingredients

1 lb
fresh asparagus
1 medium
onion chopped
5 Tbsp
butter, divided
2 Tbsp
flour
1 c
milk
3 oz
cream cheese
1 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
pepper
1/2 c
shredded cheddar cheese
1 c
bread crumbs

How to Make Asparagus Cassarole

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cut asparagus into 1-2 inch pieces. In skillet, sauté asparagus and onion in 1 Tablespoon of butter until tender/crisp. Transfer to a 1 1/2 qt. baking dish.
  • 2In saucepan, melt 2 Tablespoons of butter, add flour and stir until smooth; add milk and cook until thickened and smooth; add cream cheese, salt and pepper. When cream cheese is melted, pour mixture over asparagus and onions.
  • 3Sprinkle with shredded cheese. Melt remaining butter and toss with breadcrumbs. Sprinkle over casserole. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
