Asparagus is my favorite vegetable and this time I put one of my favorite ingredients with it, (cream cheese). It is so yummy.

Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh asparagus
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 5 tablespoons butter, divided
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup milk
- 3 ounces cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup bread crumbs
How To Make asparagus cassarole

Step 1Cut asparagus into 1-2 inch pieces. In skillet, sauté asparagus and onion in 1 Tablespoon of butter until tender/crisp. Transfer to a 1 1/2 qt. baking dish.

Step 2In saucepan, melt 2 Tablespoons of butter, add flour and stir until smooth; add milk and cook until thickened and smooth; add cream cheese, salt and pepper. When cream cheese is melted, pour mixture over asparagus and onions.

Step 3Sprinkle with shredded cheese. Melt remaining butter and toss with breadcrumbs. Sprinkle over casserole. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
