side essentials: spicy rice dish

Pulled this together, just for a different rice dish. It definitely has a kick to it, but not overly so. The Sriracha and hot sauce give it some heat, and the lemon pepper spice add a bit of tang. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

  • 1 Tbsp
    sweet butter, unsalted
  • 1 c
    white rice
  • 1 1/2 c
    chicken stock, hot
  • 1 Tbsp
    sriracha sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    hot sauce, i prefer frank’s
  • 1 - 2 tsp
    lemon pepper spice

    You will need a medium saucepan with a lid to make this recipe

    To make this a meal in a bowl, add some ground beef, pork, or chicken; even fish works great. In my photo I added some ground beef… Yummy.

    Gather your ingredients (mise en place).

    Add the butter to a saucepan over medium heat, allow to melt, then add the rice, and stir until translucent, about 3 – 4 minutes. Add the hot chicken stock, and the remainder of the ingredients, and stir to combine.

    Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and allow to simmer until all the liquid has been absorbed, about 18 – 20 minutes.

    Stir in some ground beef, pork, chicken, or shredded fish and serve as a meal in a bowl. Or leave as is and serve as a side. Enjoy.
