Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 5 ounces thin egg noodles or vermicelli
  • 2 cups uncooked instant rice
  • 2 packages 1-oz each dry onion soup mix
  • 4 cups broth - vegetable or chicken
  • 1 can 5-ounce can water chestnuts, drained and sliced or chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

How To Make fairy tale rice

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 deg. F. (175 deg. C.) Grease a 2-quart oven baking dish.
  • Step 2
    Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat. Break noodles into pieces and brown them in the butter.
  • Step 3
    In a large bowl, combine browned pasta, rice, onion soup, broth, water chestnuts, celery salt, and soy sauce. Mix well and transfer to prepared oven baking dish.
  • Step 4
    Bake for 45 minutes until liquid has been absorbed and casserole is brown and crispy on top. Serve!
