Rice Cooker


  • 2 large
    onions, chopped
  • ·
    fist size chunk of salt pork or bacon, chopped
  • 1 c
  • 2 c
    boiling water
  • 1/2 large
    can of tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 tsp
    celery seeds
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • ·
    grated cheese

How to Make Camp Rice


  1. Cut up the onions and salt pork and brown them a little in a kettle.
  2. Add 2 cups boiling water and a cup of rice. Don't stir. Cook until soft about 20 to 30 minutes.
    Put the pork, onions, rice, and water into a rice cooker and cook until done.
  3. Be heating a half large can of tomatoes, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon celery seed, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Add this to the cooked rice and sprinkle on grated cheese.
