I have made this recipe for many occassions and is a traditional holiday dish in my immediate family. I came up with it one year, trying to make a yummy yam dish more tasty. It worked~

prep time 20 Min
cook time 35 Min
method ---
yield 6-8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 2 cans candid yams
  • 2 packages crushed graham crackers
  • 1 small can crushed pieapple, reserve juice
  • 1 package minature white marshmellows
  • 1 teaspoon margarine
  • 1/4 cup crushed pecans
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup

How To Make yummy ~ yams

  • Step 1
I use a 9 x 13 glass baking dish, I use a paper towel and spread margarine on the bottam and inside glass sides.
  • Step 2
I open cans Yams, and reserve the juice, if it is sweet, if not then toss. I pour the 1st can of Yams into the baking dish. Sometimes I quarter the tatters.
  • Step 3
Next I add 1 and 1/2 T. syrup, then part of crushed pineapple, layer of marshmellows, and some crushed pecans.
  • Step 4
Follow the same for the 2nd layer, though before you add marshmellows, crumble 2 sleeves of graham crackers over the mixture, then the margarine, nuts and any reserved juices if you desire, last cover with minature white marshmellows.
  • Step 5
Pop into a 350 degree oven and bake till bubbly.
