I made this dish for one of my homeowners. They were having having a dinner party for some friends. The photo is an individual portion for my tasting. I posted the photo of this dish on my FB. My friend Mary thought it was a sandwich...thus the name. It really does look like the perfect little potato sammie. LOL I hope you enjoy. This a the perfect side dish for Easter. 2In a medium-size saucepan, melt 3/4 of the butter r over medium heat. stir in hal & half. add the garlic, everglades, pepper, nutmeg and stir constantly with a whisk for about a minute or so. slowly add egg and whisk away**you do not want to make scrambled eggs**. simmer for about 1 minute. remove from heat
3butter your casserole dish. layer potatoes, cheese pancetta and chives. repeat 2 more times.
4pour mixture over the potatoes and cover the dish with oiled aluminum foil.
5meanwhile, preheat oven to 375 degrees. bake for about 45 minutes. uncover and bake for an additional 30 minutes or so. remove from oven at allow to rest for at least 20 minute.
