An old recipe from my long gone mother-in-law that she made every Thanksgiving that melts in your mouth. I still make it & I'm so glad I got the recipe from her.

Ingredients

  • 4-6
fresh sweet potatoes and yam combination
  • 1 c
    light brown sugar
  • 1 c
    white granulated sugar
  • 3 tsp
    (heaping) butter
  • 1/2 c
orange juice or pineapple juice or lemon juice

How to Make Glazed Sweet Potatoes

Step-by-Step

  1. Boil potatoes and yams until done but not over-cooked. They need to be firm, not mushy. Let them cool until able to peel off skins easily. Slice the potatoes length-wise and lay them in a 9x13 baking dish in a single layer.
  2. Make a syrup with the rest of the ingredients by boiling for just a few minutes and pour over the sweet potatoes. Put in 400 degree oven and baste every few minutes.
  3. This needs to cook slowly until bubbly before serving. Length of time depends on how hot the potatoes are & how many.
But this is worth the time it takes to bake!
