Easy Skillet Pot Pie

I have been making this recipe since my children were small ..so that is about 42 years or more... yikes! has it been that long... I am really getting old... thank goodness I can still remember it!!

Stove Top


1 lb
lean ground beef
1 small
onion chopped
2 c
frozen peas or 1 can, drained
10 oz
can golden mushroom soup
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1 tsp
seasoned salt
1/2 tsp
4 c
prepared instant mashed potatoes or leftovers
9 slice
american cheese or 3/4 c. shredded cheddar


1I use and electric fry pan, you can use stove top skillet.
Brown and scramble beef in pan. Drain any fat. Add onion and Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt and pepper, mixing well. Stir in undiluted soup(if your store doesn't carry the golden soup , you can use regular mushroom soup.) then the frozen peas.
Stir until bubbles then reduce heat to simmer. Place prepared potatoes in nine mounds on top of meat mixture. Place a cheese square on top of each potato mound( or spread potatoes over meat mixture and sprinkle shredded cheese over all.)
Place lid on skillet just long enough to melt cheese. Serve with garlic toast and a green salad.
