easy au gratin potatoes

This potato dish was one of my Grandma's and they are easy to make. I always add little more cheese and garlic then called for but its up to your individual preference.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup 1/2 & 1/2 cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 medium potatoes ; thinly sliced
  • 1 cup seasoned salad croutons ; divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

How To Make easy au gratin potatoes

  • Step 1
    In a large sauce pan bring cream , milk , salt and garlic powder to a boil.
  • Step 2
    Add potatoes ; Reduce heat , Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
  • Step 3
    Coarsely crush 1/4 cup of croutons.
  • Step 4
    Remove potatoes from the heat and Gently add croutons and pepper.
  • Step 5
    Pour into a 1-1/2 Qt. Buttered Baking dish and sprinkle with cheese and the remaining croutons.
  • Step 6
    Bake un-covered @ 400 deg. for 5-6 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
