I made this dish for dinner on yesterday, it really brought back memories of my childhood. When mama would gather green Beans, onions & Potatoes fresh from the garden, & make this tasty dish for dinner.

All the vegetables were so fresh & very tasty, then when I chatted with my brother A W. he said he had made the same dish on Saturday, & ate left overs on Sunday. So that is how I arrived at this title for the dish.

I also added minced garlic, the beans were frozen, they cooked faster than expected, so I drained the liquid to a smaller pot, and cooked the potatoes in the grn bean liquid.

How to Make Country Style Grn Beans W Potatoes-Onion & Bacon

Step-by-Step

  • 1Add green Beans to a large pot, cover with water.
  • 2Add the chopped onions and minced garlic & BRING TO A BOIL. COOK TILL CRISP TENDER, ABOUT 20 MINUTES OR AS DESIRED. Add salt and pepper if desired.
  • 3Drain water from green bean pot to a smaller pot. Add the cubed potatoes, and cook till potatoes are tender. Drain the liquid and add the potatoes to the pot of green beans.
  • 4Add the crumbled bacon bits, and butter, stir to mix together. Taste first and see if additional salt and pepper is needed. I did not use salt because the bacon bits are already salty.
  • 5Pour into a serving dish and serve while still hot. How could such a simple dish taste so good. It was very good, and rekindle memories of my childhood all in one.
