Ingredients
- 1 cup crumbled cooked bacon
- 2 cups crushed barbecue potato chips, divided
- 7 ounces dry elbow macaroni
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 2 banana peppers, sliced
- 1 tablespoon creole seasoning
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons creole mustard mixed with brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon margarine
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup half and half
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded gouda cheese
How To Make louisiana cowboy baked macaroni

Step 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2Coat a 2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray. Add crumbled bacon and 1 cup crushed barbecue potato chips; mix well.

Step 3Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.

Step 4Heat canola oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add sliced banana peppers and saute for 5 minutes until tender.

Step 5Stir in creole seasoning, onion soup mix, garlic powder and creole mustard/brown sugar. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 6In a large saucepan, melt margarine over medium heat. Combine heavy cream, milk, cream cheese, half and half and shredded sharp cheddar and gouda cheese; stir together and simmer for 6 minutes until thickened and the cheese melts.

Step 7Reduced to low heat.

Step 8Add cooked macaroni and sauteed banana peppers mixture. Mix well until combined. Remove from heat.

Step 9Spoon evenly into the prepared casserole dish and sprinkle with remaining crushed barbecue potato chips.

Step 10Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
